Special Event Policies

Special Event Policies

• Fundraising and political events are not permitted at the Harvard Art Museums.
• No media coverage is allowed at the Harvard Art Museums (with the exception of Harvard University events).
• Photographs and videos taken on the Harvard Art Museums’ premises are for personal use only and may not be used for commercial purposes without prior approval by the museums’ representative.
• Spaces may be rented from 5pm (including setup) until midnight. Only Adolphus Busch Hall may be rented earlier on weekends.
• The Harvard Art Museums’ in-house caterer, The Catered Affair, must be used for all events. They offer customized menus and full event planning services.
• No food, beverages, or dancing is permitted in the galleries.
• Red wine can only be served table-side in the Harvard Art Museums. 
• All service and entertainment must end by 11:30pm.
• Privately owned and/or original artwork may not be brought into any Harvard Art Museums venue.
• Using ice sculptures or balloons; throwing rice, flower petals, bouquets, confetti, the bride’s garter, coins, etc.; blowing bubbles; breaking glass; bringing in chairs; carrying anything or anyone on the shoulders, etc., are strictly forbidden.
• Only cut flowers are allowed; plants and sod are strictly prohibited. 
• The full proposed wording of notices, invitations, or press releases connected with the event must be submitted for approval by the Harvard Art Museums’ representative prior to printing and distribution. Organizations may not imply Harvard Art Museums’ endorsement or sponsorship in their invitations or publicity.
• Candles, including votive and hurricane-style candles, sparklers, open flames, and cooking fuels are not permitted inside any Harvard Art Museums building.
• Flash photography may never be taken in galleries or directed toward any work of art.
